Sammy and Karina work together to help clients understand complicated financial and administrative processes, organize the right information, and move forward with a clear next step.
Both assist across Lumera's services. Sammy focuses on complex and multi-service situations, while Karina provides broad client support and serves many of Lumera's Spanish-speaking clients.
Our story
It began with a first W-2 and a familiar feeling: uncertainty.
In his early twenties, Lumera's founder received his first W-2 and realized how easy it was to follow tax-software instructions without truly understanding the process. After taking time to learn, he began helping family and friends who were missing deductions or paying unnecessary fees.
That guidance saved people money, but more importantly, it gave them peace of mind.
A shared experience and a larger mission
After meeting his wife and business partner, Karina, their own experience with immigration and administrative systems showed how overwhelming everyday paperwork can feel.
The evolution into Lumera Services
S&S Tax Prep became Lumera. The name represents light and clarity, and the mission expanded to tax, credit advocacy, bookkeeping, business setup, translation, records, and administrative support.
